Founded in 2009 by actor and filmmaker Tim Reid, Legacy Media Institute is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to bringing together leading professionals in film and television, outstanding educators, and diverse young talent — producing work that enriches movie theaters, streaming platforms, cable networks, and communities around the world.

Filmmaker Labs & Fellows Program
Intensive reality-based workshops pairing aspiring artists with seasoned TV and film professionals. Fellows develop original independent projects under direct mentorship from working writers, directors, and actors.
University Intern Program
4-week intensive training at partner HBCUs — Jackson State, Virginia State, Norfolk State, and Morgan State.
International Workshops
Global programs including a collaboration with the British Film Institute, with resulting films screened at festivals in South Africa.
Legacy International Film Festival
Public-facing showcase connecting emerging filmmakers with global audiences and the broader industry.
Master Classes
